A Recap of the Last Three Days
Hey y'all! I've been on a bit of a hiatus from writing, but I'll give every last detail about the last three days in this post. July 4th, 2012
Today was the 4th of July! We started off the day with a family brunch at the Americana Diner in NJ with some of my relatives from my dad's side of the family.
My brother ordered the healthiest thing on the menu- a waffle with vanilla ice cream. Guess it's never to early to have dessert?
I opted for something a bit lighter- an egg white omelet with tomato, basil, and onion with a side of fresh fruit.
Here's the cousins! Well, my brother, sister, and my cousin Dillon. He's just an itty bit taller than me..
After brunch, we went back to my Uncle Len's house to prep food and hang out by the pool. I helped make the chicken burgers, the caprese salad, and I sort of helped make the American flag cake.
Caprese salad is just the best. We drizzled one half with olive oil and a white balsamic and the other half with olive oil and regular balsamic vinegar.
My Aunt Jeanne made this cute cake, and a few of us cousins helped arrange the berries and whipped cream on top.
After preparing the food for dinner, we spent the rest of the day hanging out by the pool! My cousins and I all got matching American flag bathing suits as a spur of the moment purchase on July 3rd from Old Navy. I think they're cute!
This was hands down one of my favorite 4th of July celebrations ever. I love just getting the chance to hang out and lounge around with my family. It's the best.

Today, we packed up our stuff and began the 9 hour trip back down to North Carolina. The time we spent in NJ seemed to fly by so fast! I wish I could have had a few more days with everyone.
After we left my uncle's house, we made a few necessary pit stops before getting on the highway.
The first stop we made was to Dolce and Clemente's, an Italian market-type shop just a few minutes from my uncle's house. They have really traditional Italian food/sweets in this shop. It's one kind of thing that I'll admit the North does better than the South. I wouldn't mind having a shop like this in Winston-Salem. Just look at those huge cannoli shells and the variety of pasta salads to choose from!
The second stop was to Wawa, a place I used to looove going to as a kid. I remember always getting a soft pretzel from there when I was younger, so we each got one to take with us on the road. They weren't quite as awesome as I remember, but they were still pretty tasty.
After that, we began the fairly long drive back home. I filled my time watching The Help (such a good movie) and reading Catching Fire, the second book of The Hunger Games. It has gotten so good! The author really knows how to add plot twists. But that's all I'm going to say!
We finally got home around 7:30, and to unwind I watched Gone With the Wind with my mom. It's one of the movies that I had never seen but knew I needed to see. And I'm sure glad I watched it.
Although I loved being on vacation, it was nice to finally be back home in the comfort of my own house. That's always one of the best feelings in the world to me.

Today, I began back at my internship after about a week of vacation time. The day was filled with crafting a project for a wedding later in the month and prepping for the wedding we have tomorrow. I got to go to the rehearsal, and I'm already certain the ceremony and reception are going to be just beautiful.
After work, I came home to an awesome home-made meal by mom and got to unwind a bit. I finished watching Gone With the Wind with her (we still had about 30 mins left, it's a long movie!) and worked on the details of a Silent Auction I am planning for Sigma Kappa.
Then, I went to see Spiderman in IMAX 3D with Zeke. The 3D is so realistic it's crazy! And the movie itself was pretty good too. I cannot remember the details of the original Spiderman, but I liked this one. Part of it might just be that I love Emma Stone though.
And now, I'm finally going to head on up to bed so I can get some rest before tomorrow's wedding! Night all :)
