A Typical Day in My Life
Today I had to re-enter the world of reality. Luckily, I like my little reality world. But, I must admit that I'm already missing having nothing to do on my agenda aside from finding the best local restaurants and taking pictures of multi-million dollar historical homes. So here's a little glimpse into what a day in the life of Jessica Marie looks like: I wake up around 7:30 to get ready for the day. I've found that I like getting up far earlier than I need to leave for the morning so I can prepare for what's ahead at my own leisure. That includes freshening up, dancing around to Pandora's "Today's Country Radio" station while choosing an outfit, preparing and packing my lunch and snacks for the day, and finally sitting down to eat breakfast while checking my email, Facebook, Pinterest, and favorite blogs.
Then I head on over to my internship either at 9:25 or 9:35, depending on whether or not I want a little pick-me-up latte from Dunkin Donuts on the way. I arrive at my internship in downtown Winston-Salem, NC at 10am each day. I'm interning with an awesome wedding planner and designer, Becca of Rebecca Rose Events. Every day at the office brings something new, and I'm sure I'll talk about it a lot in this blog! But regardless of the events of the day, I can typically be found working on some sort of project at my cool personal desk area:
I love the huge inspiration board on the wall behind my computers! So as I said, I am always doing something different every day of the week at the RRE office. Today in particular, I ran over to Office Depot and Best Buy to pick up some supplies. Then, I got busy assembling save the dates that will be sent out tomorrow.
For those of you who don't know all of the wedding lingo, save the dates are notifications announcing the date of a couple's wedding. They are sent months in advance, before the official wedding invitations, to those who would want to hear about the wedding. Couples can really get creative with these! For instance, this save the date was a magnet displaying pictures of the happy couple along with their wedding date. It's also a great place to include the link to your personalized wedding website if you have one. Here are some of my favorites from Pinterest:
The errand-running and save-the-date assembling filled the majority of my day, and I headed out the door by 5pm. After throughly enjoying eating my way through Charleston the past few days, I felt like it was probably a good idea to go to the gym between my internship and dinner. I've found that is the best time for me to go, because my family usually doesn't sit down for dinner until about 7:30 anyway so it's the perfect little chunk of time to spend at the gym! Plus, that's the time that the people my age tend to go as well. In my opinion, it's more invigorating to go to the gym when there are other fit, younger people surrounding me. But that might just be me!
I come home post-exercise to either help make some part of our meal or set the table if mom and dad are cooking for the night. I love that my family still does full family dinners every night of the week. It's a tradition that I truly cherish and look forward to daily. It's our time to gather all together and talk about our days, and I'd have it no other way. I cannot wait to keep this up with my own family some day.
When we finish eating and cleaning up, my brother usually goes back down to the basement, my sister goes upstairs to her room, and my parents and I move into the living room. Since I'm taking an online Financial Accounting course this summer, I typically devote this time to reading the text, completing the homework questions, or taking a quiz or test. I have to admit that I am looking forward to the end of this month when the course is over so I can have my nights to spend as I please.
What does that include? I love to unwind with my mom and watch some variety of mindless TV. For instance, after I finished my reading for the night we snuggled up and watched Monday's episode of The Bachelorette. I really, truly hope that Emily chooses Sean. He is the epitome of all that I am looking for in a husband. Tall but not too tall, strong but not obnoxiously muscular, cute as can be with his southern accent and crooked smile, devoted to his faith, and adoring of his family. Seriously, he's the perfect catch. Just look at him!
Such a cutie. Emily's a fool if she doesn't choose him! Or if she doesn't, I'll gladly take him. So that may be better anyway! On that note, I'm off to bed. Night all.
