Pamplemousse Frosé Recipe

Recipes, SJM ShopJessica PeddicordComment

While yesterday was the Fourth of July, there are still plenty of reasons to celebrate even though the holiday is over. Most importantly: it's summertime, and summer weekends call for pool parties and long brunches!

If you're planning a brunch or party this weekend, consider this Pamplemousse Frosé your go-to festive drink! Because truthfully, who doesn't like frosé? This recipe will take a little bit of pre-planning since you'll need to freeze it for a few hours, so I recommend making it the day before you plan to serve it (or the morning of if you're hosting an afternoon soirée!).

PS - who else flipped the page of their 2018 Cocktail Calendar this week? If so, let's toast each other with a virtual cocktail hour today to celebrate!

Pamplemousse Frose Recipe | Watercolor Cocktail Painting by Simply Jessica Marie | SJM 2018 Cocktail Calendar

pamplemousse frosé

INGREDIENTS

for the margaritas:

  • 1 bottle of Rosé
  • 3/4 cup of pink grapefruit juice OR 3 full grapefruits if you'd prefer to squeeze your own fresh grapefruit juice!
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 2 sprigs of rosemary loosely chopped to open up the aromas (plus extra for garnish!)

DIRECTIONS

for the rosemary simple syrup

  1. Add the water, sugar, and 2 chopped sprigs of rosemary to a saucepan (over medium-low heat).
  2. Bring to a simmer, whisking as it heats to a simmer. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Turn off the heat and let the simple syrup cool to room temperature. After 30 minutes, remove the rosemary, and let it cool completely. (The simple syrup can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to one week.)

for the pamplemousse frosé

  1. Mix together the cooled rosemary simple syrup, rosé, and grapefruit juice. Once mixed, pour the concoction into a 9x13 pan.
  2. *Optional: add a few grapefruit slices to the pan for pretty presentation once it's frozen!
  3. Freeze for about 4-6 hours, to allow the rosé to turn into frosé :)
  4. When you're ready to serve, scoop the frosé into glasses.
  5. Garnish with a wedge of grapefruit and a sprig of rosemary, and enjoy!

BRUNCH PAIRING SUGGESTION

I love brunch pairings that truly go together - like this pamplemousse frosé and a rosemary grapefruit cake! This cake from Flour and Fleur looks incredible, as does this one from Desserts for Breakfast!

How to Make a Mimosa Bar with 3 Mimosa Recipes

Recipes, SJM ShopJessica PeddicordComment

Mimosa bars are some of my absolute favorite ways to create an inviting brunch or party! I had one at my bridal shower (but swapped champagne for prosecco!), and it was such a hit!

The best part about mimosa bars? They are so easy to put together. Just lay out a few ingredients, and let your guests do the mixing!

PS - who else flipped the page of their 2018 Cocktail Calendar this week? If so, let's toast each other with a virtual cocktail hour today to celebrate!

How to Make a Mimosa Bar | 3 Recipes | Watercolor Cocktail Painting by Simply Jessica Marie | SJM 2018 Cocktail Calendar

I'm sharing my three favorite mimosa bar recipes below: a grapefruit mimosa recipe, a classic mimosa recipe, and a raspberry lemonade mimosa recipe.

You'll notice that I'm recommending the same types of fruit for garnish for all three recipes. The reason for that is I recommend displaying all of the fruit out on the table in front of the juices and champagne (as seen in the photos!), and letting your guests decide which combination they prefer to create a unique mimosa all on their own!

Maple Margarita Recipe

Recipes, SJM ShopJessica PeddicordComment

Happy Cinco de Mayo!! While I wanted to share this recipe on Thursday per usual, I thought it would be fun to wait to share it on Cinco de Mayo since it's such a fitting recipe for this cocktail.

If you're planning brunch this weekend (maybe a continued celebration tomorrow on Sunday?), consider this Maple Margarita your go-to festive drink!

PS - who else flipped the page of their 2018 Cocktail Calendar this week? If so, let's toast each other with a virtual cocktail hour today to celebrate!

Maple Margarita Recipe | Watercolor Cocktail Painting by Simply Jessica Marie | SJM 2018 Cocktail Calendar

maple margarita

serves 1

INGREDIENTS

for the margaritas:

  • 1 1/2 ounces of your tequila of choice
  • 1/2 cup of orange juice (freshly squeezed, if possible!) note: you can use Cointreau instead of orange juice, but one of our favorite Mexican restaurants from Knoxville uses OJ, and it's delicious!
  • 1-2 ounces of maple simple syrup, to taste (see below)
  • the juice of almost one full lime (about 3/4 of a lime's juice should be perfect)
  • ice
  • lime wedges or orange slices for garnish

for the maple simple syrup

  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2/3 cup water

cinnamon sugar rim

  • a little maple syrup (for coating)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons of raw sugar

DIRECTIONS

for the maple simple syrup

  1. Add the maple syrup and water to a saucepan (over medium-low heat).
  2. Bring to a simmer,  whisking the syrup as it heats
  3. Turn off the heat and let the simple syrup cool to room temperature. (It can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to one week.)

for the cinnamon sugar rim

  1. Using a spoon (a pastry brush would work nicely as well!), coat the rim of your glass with maple syrup.
  2. Stir the cinnamon and sugar together on a flat plate.
  3. Dip your glass in the cinnamon sugar to coat.

for the margaritas

  1. Fill your cocktail shaker with the tequila, orange juice, maple simple syrup, lime juice, and ice.
  2. Shake for about 30-60 seconds, until combined.
  3. Fill your glass with crushed ice, and pour your margarita on top.
  4. Garnish with your choice of lime or orange, and enjoy!

BRUNCH PAIRING SUGGESTION

The obvious choice for brunch food to pair with your maple margarita is waffles! If you're feeling extra fancy, try your hand at maple bacon waffles for a savory addition to your sweet brunch.

Mojito Float Recipe

Recipes, SJM ShopJessica PeddicordComment

Let's ring in the first day (and first Thursday!) of March with a fun new cocktail recipe - an incredibly fun and tasty mojito float! Mojitos are some of my absolute favorite cocktails (give me all the muddled mint!!), and any excuse to add ice cream to a drink is good in my book.

The weather is just starting to get a bit warmer here in Dallas, so it's as good a time as any to start thinking of fun spring-y drinks.

Who else flipped the page of their 2018 Cocktail Calendar today? If so, let's toast each other with a virtual cocktail hour tonight to celebrate!

Mojito Float Recipe | Watercolor Cocktail Painting by Simply Jessica Marie | SJM 2018 Cocktail Calendar

mojito float

serves 1

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 ounces of your white rum of choice
  • 2 ounces of club soda
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 3-5 slices of lime
  • 2 sprigs of mint (plus more for garnish!)
  • 2 scoops of lime sherbet

DIRECTIONS

  1. In your glass, crush your mint into the sugar and 1 slice of lime using a spoon or muddler.
  2. Add rum, club soda, and remaining lime slices, and stir.
  3. Ad sherbet, top with extra mint sprigs for garnish, and enjoy immediately!

BRUNCH PAIRING SUGGESTION

What could be a more perfect pairing for a mojito float than a key lime tart?! If you're already going to be indulging in sherbet with brunch, you might as well go all-out-sweets with a side of key lime!
