I have always adored Paris. That is why I was so excited when my friend from the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk asked me to sponsor their annual Spring Spirits Gala, which had the theme "A Night in Paris." I was thrilled for the opportunity to bring the romance, class, and femininity of Paris to life through stationery design.
When designing this invitation suite, I knew that I wanted to keep the design classic. The Junior League ladies and I agreed that a classic black and white stripe with all black lettering would be the loveliest option. However, I wanted to add a bit more character than a traditional black and white stripe, so I hand-painted the stripes to make the lines appear more natural and irregular.
My favorite part of these invitations the illustration I designed of the Parisian River Seine at night. I normally paint in very vibrant watercolor palettes, so it was a fun change of pace to design an illustration only with my finest Faber-Castell black pen!
Sometimes the loveliest design touches are the simplest. The French phrases that grace the invitation and response card, as well as the soft, subtle texture of the blush envelopes added a hint of timeless Parisian elegance to this suite. What is your favorite part of this invitation suite?
