So Much To Be Thankful For

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It reminds us all to think of and cherish what we are thankful for. I just wish that everyone, including myself, would regard every day as Thanksgiving. This year, I am thankful to be at home celebrating with my family, I am thankful for the amazing group of friends at Elon that I consider my family away from home, I am thankful for my great education and the professors who have made my experience more than I could have ever asked for, and I am thankful for all of the opportunities that are to come. But more than anything, I am thankful for my faith and all that the Lord has both challenged and blessed me with.

My family started off the morning with our usual tradition of holiday cinnamon rolls.

After breakfast, we watched some of the Macy's Day Parade, and I got to snuggle with this one. I love being at home to spend time with my family, but my puppy Sophie is definitely the second best thing about coming home for breaks.

Later in the afternoon, my mom and I went over to my grandma's house to prepare for dinner. I helped to prepare some of the food and drinks, but my main task for the day was to decorate and set the table.

What I love most about this table is that it has pieces from all three generations of Carella/Clinch women. The tablecloth is my grandma's, the white plates and napkins are my mom's, and the gold chargers, doilies, and other decorations are mine. Everything came together in a classy look that still had charm unique to my family.

Everything came together exactly as I envisioned. The elegance of the gold meshed perfectly with the warmth of the pinecones and small berry and floral arrangements I crafted and placed in front of each place setting.

Right as I finished setting the table, the rest of my family arrived at grandma's house! I like them just a little bit.

Around 4:00, we all sat down to eat. I helped prepare the apple cider sangria, which was a new recipe, and our traditional apples and cherries that I made with mom.

Here's my plate full of yummy goodness! We had apples and cherries, turkey, green beans, mashed potatoes au gratin (with cheese), stuffing, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes with brown sugar and pecans! Mmm mmm I could eat this every day. Thankfully we have plenty of leftovers!

Today was such a blessing, and I hope it was for y'all as well!
