Want to know the closest beach to my house in Winston-Salem, NC? Oh, it's about 4 hours away. That's just not fair.
We got to the beach around 9:30 AM and stayed for 6 hours until 3:30 PM. It was so fantastic- I wish we could go back again tomorrow!
After Belmar, we made our way to Point Pleasant to visit the boardwalk. I went here all the time as a kid, so it was cool to go back again to relive my childhood a bit. Another fun fact? 24 years ago today, my dad proposed to my mom on this beach. CONGRATS mom and dad :)
While there, we got some food to feed our appetite. The young ones ordered a variety of fried food. Suuuper healthy menu right?
In case you've never seen a fried oreo, this is what one looks like. I'm not the biggest fan of these little things. The first, and only, time I tried one was at Ribfest last summer. I had expected that the oreo would maintain its crunchiness, but instead it was soft and doughy. It didn't live up to my expectations, that's for sure.
So, instead of the fried food, mom and I got some Kohr's frozen custard. She got the vanilla-chocolate swirl and I got the chocolate-peanut butter swirl. It was pretty good, but I've gotta say that frozen yogurt will always win in my mind.
Then, we found the closest thing that resembled a couch to recreate our traditional Carella-Clinch cousin picture!
And finally, we rode a few roller coasters to end the day. This one was one that my cousins and I allll remember loving from when we were little. We had to throw some peace signs in honor of how we used to always take pictures when we were living it up in the '90s!
After this awesome yet exhausting day, we headed back home to their house for a great dinner prepared by my uncle and step-aunt. Mom, Julia and I also finally finished yesterday's episode of The Bachelorette. We were all beyond glad that Emily sent Chris home. I'm personally rooting for Sean and Jef with one "f" to make it to the final two. I know she has some great love connection with Arie, but there's something about him I just can't quite trust. We'll see what happens next week!
