Sigma Kappa, Kappa Zeta Ultra Violet Week Events

This week was Sigma Kappa, Kappa Zeta's Ultra Violet Week! It is one of the most highly anticipated and exciting weeks that we have as a chapter on Elon's campus. As a part of our philanthropic efforts, we annually sponsor a week on campus dedicated to raising money and awareness for the Sigma Kappa Foundation and Alzheimer's disease research through various events open to all Elon students. We had events each day throughout the week. Monday, we had a table in the Moseley Center on campus where we handed out free cupcakes and purple ribbons to support Alzheimer's research.

We also had a profit share at Local Yogurt on Monday, where 10% of the proceeds from the sales from the store benefitted the Sigma Kappa Foundation and Alzheimer's disease research.

Tuesday, we hosted our second annual PerfEKt Pizzas dinner event. Students paid $5 for all-you-can-eat pizzas that were donated from various local vendors. We also had live music from two different bands on campus! Here's a sneak peak of the event, more details to come soon.

Wednesday, we had another table at the Moseley Center to hand out bags of candy and more purple ribbons in honor of Halloween! And of course I had to glitter pumpkins to have at the table.

Thursday, we had our second annual DelEKtable Dessert Bar. Students could pay $1 for 1 treat, and $3 for a plate of up to 5 treats. Everything was home-made by our sisters, and we had desserts ranging from cupcakes to cookies to white chocolate covered oreos. Here's another little sneak peak, I'll be writing another blog post about it later in the week!

Finally, on Friday we had Kick in the Grass, our soccer tournament. Each greek organization,Β fraternitiesΒ and sororities, were invited to create a team and compete in male and female brackets for the championship title! Our sisters were the coaches for each team, and dressed up in their teams sorority or fraternity's colors to cheer them on. I was a coach for Sigma Phi Epsilon, and we came in second place in Β the men's bracket!

Lambda Chi won in the men's bracket, and Delta Delta Delta won in the women's bracket.

This was such a fun week, and we successfully raised a lot of money for the Sigma Kappa Foundation and Alzheimer's disease research! Look for two more posts later in the week about our PerfEKt Pizzas dinner and DelEKtable Dessert Bar.
