Sigma Kappa's Family Weekend Silent Auction + Brunch

Last week, I wrote about my Kappa Zeta chapter of Sigma Kappa's involvement in the Alamance Walk to End Alzheimer's. It was the first of two philanthropy events that we had over Elon's Family Weekend. The second was our Silent Auction and Brunch, which we hosted in our on-campus sorority house on September 30th. It was a lovely time and a great success, take a look!

This was our second year hosting the silent auction, and I followed in the footsteps of the last VP of Philanthropic Service by asking numerous local vendors for donations to our auction.

We received baskets from stores in downtown Elon, like this Sigma Kappa basket from the Greek store All That Jas.

We also had baskets from the Tanger Outlets in Mebane, like these Vineyard Vines inspired women's and men's baskets.

And some that were from a combination of the outlets and the Friendly Center in Greensboro, such as this basket with a purse donated by Brooks Brothers and a Lilly PulitzerΒ Murfee Scarf donated by Palm Avenue.

The color scheme and detail that I decided to go with for this auction and brunch was purple and white with lace detail. I had the most fun designing the paper details to go in the picture frames that held the descriptions of the auction baskets and brunch items, as well as the tablescape for the brunch bar.

For brunch, we provided a spread of bagels, muffins, and a parfait bar that included vanilla yogurt, strawberries, blueberries, and granola. We also had some additional fresh fruit, and a beverage station.

I loved making this doily table runner, which was inspired by a pin that I found on Pinterest.

Mason jars are undoubtedly some of my favorite items, and there are so many ways to dress them up! I did so by first adhering purple ribbon that matched the table cloth around the rim of the jar, then tying white lace in a bow on top of the ribbon. I used these to hold both the knives and spoons for the brunch.

These standing picture frames from Ikea are my favorite frames to use for events. We used them a few times during my summer internship with Rebecca Rose Events, and I've been wanting to use them in one of my own events ever since.

Our beverage station included Starbucks coffee with a variety of options for sweeteners and creamers, water, and orange juice.

The auction was a great success, as we raised $2,080 for theΒ Sigma Kappa Foundation! But of course, my favorite part of this event, and what made it so much fun and such a success, was having my sisters and their families there with me. Here's a picture of some of our seniors on our back porch!
