Today was filled with numerous surprises. I woke up early this morning to get ready for work, and realized mid-way through getting dressed that I didn't actually have to arrive at the office until noon (instead of 10am per usual). I couldn't really fall back asleep so I took the time to be productive and get some homework done instead. Once I arrived at the office, there were boxes full of linens for me to unpack for a wedding occurring next week. The color of one of the linens is BEAUTIFUL and it might be one of my new favorite linens. It's called "poppy" and it's reversible- one side is a satin material and the other is more matte.
It's just fabulous and I can't wait to see how it comes together with the rest of the decor at the venue. When I finished unpacking the linens and taking a count of the inventory, Becca asked me to organize some of the other linen samples that she had taken out during her various client consultations this week. While doing so, I stumbled upon a sample that I feel I must absolutely include in my wedding:
This picture doesn't do it justice, but this Cream Swirl Taffeta is exactly my style. It's subtle since it's a neutral color, but it's got some flair to it with the 3-D effect of the raised swirls. I'm definitely keeping this one tucked away in the back of my mind for my big day.
This linen sample also caught my eye. I'm not sure if I'd prefer to use it during my reception, but it would be fun to have at a bridal shower!
Although I was having a blast organizing and oogling over these samples, the linens for next week's wedding began to give us some trouble. They were just too darn heavy for the garment rack we had in the office, which began to collapse. This led me to my next adventure of the day: finding a more durable garment rack.
I didn't have any luck at Target, but found the perfect one at Bed Bath and Beyond. The couple in front of me at the check-out line even gave me a 20% off coupon, which just added to my list of pleasant suprises of the day! My next surprise? That I was able to effortlessly assemble the rack all by myself!
I was having such a fun time entertaining myself today that I didn't even realize it was about time to leave for work when I had finished assembling the rack. Becca let me go home a bit early, which was a great start to the weekend.
Since I had a few extra minutes, I decided to stop into the consignment shop that is a couple stores down from our office. I walk by it multiple times each day and am always tempted to go in, and I sure am happy that I did today. It's chock full of the coolest little things, all sold at a fantastic price! Here are some of the items I purchased today-
The first book that caught my eye was the one titled "It's your day!" Inside this book are inspirational quotes about living life. I particularly enjoyed this one-
Another book I found myself drawn to was the "love life" book. It's fairly similar to the first book, but it's quotes revolve mainly around loving different aspects of life
I felt that the "love your work" quote was fitting for today as I had such a random yet fun day at my internship. I've decided that I'm going to choose a quote from one of the two books to read and post on my blog each day for inspiration.
The store also had little journals with blank sheets inside that reminded me of a more grown-up version of a diary. I bought one for myself to write down some additional thoughts and things that inspire me that I might not feel comfortable sharing on this blog. I also love the quote on the front of the journal. It's just a reminder that I am so young and should be living up my youthfulness! This will be so much fun to read when I'm older. I want to be that grandma who has all of the cool keepsakes to look back on of her younger days (I think way too much about my distant future).
And finally, I bought one more book at the store. But, I have to keep it a secret until Sunday because it's a Father's Day gift for my grandpa.
Oh! I almost forgot, there are two more exciting updates related to my internship. The first is that I was officially introduced as a part of the RRE team on the website's blog. And the second is that the new business venture that Becca is entering into with Amy Lynne Originals and Holly Tate Fine Catering had its official launch at midnight last night! It's called Style + Dish, and you can catch a glimpse of what the business is all about through this video.
Well, that's about all the excitement I can handle for one day. Night all!
